How to use IQOS ILUMA i PRIME?
1. Turn ON the device - press and hold Pocket Charger Button for 4 seconds, then release; Pocket Charger Status Lights and Holder Status Lights will turn ON slowly.
2. Insert Holder into Pocket Charger, and close Wrap to charge. Holder Status Light will show Holder battery level
3. Insert the SMARTCORE STICK® up to the line on the filter until Holder vibrates.
4. Preheating starts automatically (AutoStart), or by swiping up on Touch Screen. Touch Screen will show preheating status (app. 20 sec)
5. 2nd vibration - you can start using.
6. Countdown Light on the Touch Screen will indicate the remaining time of the experience
7. Nearly Complete - to signal last 30 seconds or last 2 puffs, Holder will vibrate
8. Remove used SMARTCORE STICK® and dispose as per Safety Warnings and Instructions.
9. Insert Holder into Pocket Charger to recharge.
During use, Touch Screen will indicate Pause Mode availability: Swipe down to pause. Swipe up to resume.
a. Available within first 3 min or 8 puffs of the experience.
b. Pause Mode will be available for one out of two consecutive uses in Performance Mode (default)
c. If the Holder is used 2 times consecutively, Pause Mode will be available only in 1 of them.
Is IQOS ILUMA i PRIME compatible with IQOS ILUMA PRIME?
Compatibility between IQOS ILUMA PRIME & IQOS ILUMA i PRIME:
• Yes, they are compatible.
• You can charge your IQOS ILUMA i PRIME Holder with IQOS ILUMA devices and vice versa (applicable for IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME).
• You can use the charging cable and AC Power Adaptor from IQOS ILUMA devices to charge IQOS ILUMA i PRIME.
• The accessories of IQOS ILUMA are compatible with IQOS ILUMA i PRIME corresponding devices and vice versa.
Can I use accessories from other IQOS devices on my IQOS ILUMA i device
• You can use the customization accessories of IQOS ILUMA devices with the corresponding IQOS ILUMA i devices:
o Wraps & rings – for IQOS ILUMA i PRIME
• Charging accessories suitable for IQOS ILUMA devices can also be used for the corresponding IQOS ILUMA i devices – Holder charging dock, device charging dock (IQOS ILUMA PRIME & IQOS ILUMA).
• You can use the IQOS ORIGINALS DUO charging dock to charge your IQOS ILUMA Charger and IQOS ILUMA i Charger. However, it will not work on the IQOS ILUMA PRIME and IQOS ILUMA i PRIME Charger.
How to charge IQOS ILUMA i PRIME?
To charge your Pocket Charger - before the first use, fully charge the Pocket Charger with a compatible AC Power Adaptor (5V, 2A, Type C output) and C-type charging cable* from an electrical outlet.
A full charge takes approx. 135 min (2h 15 min)
You can charge the IQOS ILUMA i PRIME Pocket Charger with or without the Holder inserted.
It can take up to 10 minutes to fully charge the Holder for the first time (after opening the packaging) or after a long period of inactivity. This is normal.
IQOS ILUMA i PRIME Pocket Charger does not require a full charge to work, however we recommend to fully charge it before the first use.

How to check the battery level - IQOS ILUMA i PRIME?
To check the charge level of the Pocket Charger - short press the Pocket Charger Button. Status Lights will turn ON to indicate battery level:
o 4 LEDs = more than 75% charged
o 1 LED = less than 25%.
o 1 LED orange triple blink = battery depleted. Need to charge.
To check the Holder Status - tilt Holder towards you or short press the Touch Screen
Holder Status Lights will show Holder battery level
If the battery is depleted, the Touch Screen will show the sign as below (zero inside the light ring and no lights on the light ring)
IQOS ILUMA i - Can I use AC Power Adaptor and charging cable from previous generations of IQOS devices?
Yes, you can use the AC Power Adaptor from the previous generation IQOS devices (IQOS 3, IQOS 3 DUO, IQOS 3 MULTI, IQOS ORIGINALS DUO & ONE, IQOS ILUMA).
Required charging cable: type C cable
For optimal charging, just ensure that your AC Power Adaptor:
• supplies 10W (5V 2A - 5 Volts; 2 Ampers)
• has the safety certification mark (it is indicated on the power adaptor by CE conformity symbol)
You can check the power information of the AC Power Adaptor on the packaging or on the adaptor itself.
What are the adaptors I need to use with IQOS ILUMA i devices?
The best AC Power Adaptors to charge IQOS ILUMA i PRIME are genuine IQOS AC Power Adaptors.
Adaptors that supply 5V 2A (5 Volts 2 Ampers) or above, widely available in major convenience stores.
Also, ensure the products has safety certification mark on the packaging.
Power and certification information can be checked on the packaging on the AC Power Adaptor itself.
Risks using a 3rd party AC Power Adaptors:
• malfunctions induced by 3rd party accessories (including AC Power Adaptor and charging cable) are not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
If you use a 3rd party charging cable, ensure it:
• it is designed to deliver up to 2 Ampers

Bottom Pocket Charger light blinks white 2x
• Issue: outside the operating temperature range
• Action: Bring the device to the optimal temperature range (0 – 40°C)
Holder light on Pocket Charger blinks red 3x (and Holder does not display “E”)
• Issue: Slow Holder charging / Communication issue between Holder and Pocket Charger / Firmware update failure or interruption
• Action: Clean the contacts on the Holder and Pocket Charger. Place the Holder back in the Pocket Charger. / Perform a reset / The firmware update may have failed or been interrupted, try updating your firmware again.
• If Holder displays "E" on the screen, refer to Holder diagnostic in Fault Tree.
Bottom light on Pocket Charger blinks red 3x
• Issue: Malfunction / Firmware update failure or interruption / Slow charging
• Action: Unplug the Pocket Charger and ensure that the charging ports on both the Pocket Charger and the charging cable are clean and free from dirt. / Perform a reset. If in the process of updating firmware, try updating the firmware again.
Bottom light on Pocket Charger blinks yellow 3x (or orange)
• Issue: Low battery Yellow / Orange light
• Action: Ensure that the Pocket Charger is charged with the compatible charging cable and AC Power Adaptor (until 1 light turns solid white). 15min of charge should be sufficient for the yellow light to turn white.
Lights appear on Pocket Charger on short button press but no charging happens.
• Issue: dirty charging USB-C ports / Incompatible charging cable or AC Power Adaptor
• Action: Unplug the Pocket Charger and ensure that the charging ports on both the Pocket Charger and the charging cable are clean and free of dirt. / Charge the Pocket Charger with the compatible charging cable and AC Power Adaptor.
A full charge takes approximately 135min. The 4 lights will turn solid white and then turn off when fully charged / Perform a reset.
No lights on Pocket Charger (short button press) / Pocket Charger not charging
• Issue: Pocket Charger is discharged / is off / damaged
• Action: Press the Pocket Charger button for 4s to turn it on. Yellow/Orange light mean low battery, white lights indicate the charge level.
• Charge the Pocket Charger with the compatible charging cable and AC Power Adaptor. If necessary, perform a reset. For optimal charging, clean the contacts on the Holder and the Pocket Charger.
IQOS ILUMA i - What is FlexBattery feature?
FlexBattery is an advanced feature of IQOS ILUMA i PRIME devices that enables to use your Holder battery either in Performance Mode or in Eco Mode.
Your device is set up in Performance Mode by default, but you can change it to Eco Mode through IQOS App.
Performance Mode (default):
• 2 consecutive uses up to 6min each with 1 pause for one of them.
or
• Up to 3 consecutive uses up to 6min each without pause.
• Note: the screen will not show 3rd available experience. After 2nd experience, the screen will show one more available experience (one dash). When no more experiences are available, the screen will indicate the number “0”.
Eco Mode (to be activated in IQOS App):
• Increases the lifespan of the Holder battery by up to one year (only when fully used on Eco Mode throughout the lifespan of the Holder and may vary depending on personal consumption).
• Your Holder will be set for a single use only, lasting up to 6 minutes.
• Pause Mode is not available in this mode.
• This battery mode shall be set through the IQOS app.
IQOS ILUMA i - What is FlexPuff feature?
FlexPuff is an advanced feature of IQOS ILUMA i PRIME that enables a more flexible experience than before.
Depending on the way you puff, FlexPuff adapts to you and may provide 4 extra puffs (on top of 14 puffs)
FlexPuff activation and number of puffs depend on individual usage patterns. Thus, extra puffs might not apply to every experience.
No action is required from you since the system analyses your experience automatically.
Note that if you use the Pause, Flexpuff will not work for this experience.
You can activate/deactivate this feature through IQOS App
How it works:
• Towards the end of the experience, your device will analyze if the stick is fully consumed or not.
• If the stick is not fully consumed, 4 extra puffs will be automatically added to your experience, and the Touch Screen will indicate it.
• Light ring will extend in counterclockwise direction to 9 o’clock position.
• Additional puffs nearly completed.
IQOS ILUMA i – How should I puff to get additional puffs with FlexPuff?
FlexPuff activation and number of puffs depend on individual usage patterns and are managed automatically by the system.
Kindly note that extra puffs might not apply to every experience.
Therefore, we advise not to focus on your puffs but let the system function automatically.
IQOS ILUMA i – Short experience. Not enough puffs.
There may be several reasons for this issue:
1. Incorrect stick:
a. The device is designed to only work with SMARTCORE STICK®. If you use any other product, the experience duration may be impacted or may not start.
2. Incorrect insertion of the stick & usage:
a. Ensure you insert your SMARTOCRE STICK® the right way.
b. Insert the SMARTCORE STICK® to the line on the filter with coloured part facing outside.
c. Ensure you allow the pre-heating of the stick and you do not pull it out or move during the experience.
3. Device is outside the optimal temperature range:
a. If the Holder is used outside the optimal temperature range (0°C - 40°C), the device may need to use more energy. This may discharge the battery more rapidly.
b. Bring the device to the optimal temperature range.
4. Pause Mode activated by error:
a. If you accidentally swiped down across the entire Touch Screen, you activated the Pause Mode. The experience will temporarily stop. If the experience is not resumed within 8 mins, the experience will end.
IQOS ILUMA i – Low aerosol
Incorrect stick:
• The device is designed to only work with SMARTCORE STICK. If you use any other product, the experience duration may be impacted or may not start.
You start the experience straight after Pause Mode is resumed:
• After you resume the Pause, the device will need approximately 20 sec to pre-heat again before you can continue the experience.
• Ensure you allow the pre-heating of the stick and you do not pull it out or move during the experience.
Broken stick in the device:
• Check the heating chamber for broken sticks or debris. Avoid inserting sharp objects in the heating chamber as this may cause damage. Instead, you can use ILUMA Stick Remover if available.
Intensive puffing:
• If you puff too frequently without pause between the puffs, aerosol may not have enough time to form.
• We advise to leave a bit of time between the puffs. This will allow the device to properly heat the stick and generate aerosol.
FLEXPUFF does not work
• Incorrect stick: The device is designed to only work with SMARTCORE STICK®. If you use any other product, the experience duration may be impacted or may not start.
• Incorrect stick insertion: ensure you insert your SMARTOCRE STICK® the right way. Insert the SMARTCORE STICK to the line on the filter with the coloured part facing outside.
• Dirt or objects in the heating chamber: check the heating chamber for broken sticks or other debris or objects. Do not insert any sharp objects in the heating chamber to avoid damaging your device.
• Activated Pause: ensure Pause is not activated during the experience (swipe down across the screen) as this would prevent FlexPuff from being activated.
• Flex Puff deactivated in IQOS App: activate FlexPuff feature via IQOS App
• If you take large puffs, FlexPuff is unlikely to be activated as a lot of aerosol is used during the experience.
If extra puffs are granted, it is indicated on the screen by the light going around the ring. The ring will then extend counter clockwise towards the end of the experience
IQOS ILUMA i - What is Pause Mode feature?
Pause Mode is an advanced feature of IQOS ILUMA i PRIME devices that enables to pause your experience for up to 8 minutes, and resume it.
If you do not re-activate your experience within 8 mins, the Holder will automatically switch off and the experience will end.
Use Touch Screen to see if Pause Mode is available:
o In Performance Mode, during the first 3 minutes or 8 puffs of the experience.
o for one of the two consecutive uses in Performance Mode (default setting).
How to use Pause Mode:
1. Swipe down across the entire Touch Screen to pause. A vibration will indicate when the pause starts.
2. During the pause, the LEDs on the Touch Screen will fade out one by one (counterclockwise) from 12pm position as the pause duration count down.
3. If experience is not resumed within 8 min, Holder will turn off. 1 vibration will indicate when pause is close to the end.
4. Swipe up across entire Touch Screen to resume the experience. Note that when Pause Mode is activated the experience is limited to 14 puffs (including all puffs before and after the pause).
5. After the experience is resumed, the preheating will take on average 20 sec – Touch Screen will be showing light completing its round.
6. Vibration and light guide will indicate that the Holder is ready for use.
PAUSE MODE does not work
• Incorrect manipulation: Open the IQOS App and ensure Performance Mode and Pause are turned ON. Activated Pause Mode is illustrated by 2 short vertical lines at the top of the screen and is activated by swiping down across the entire Touch Screen on the device Holder.
• Pause is already used: Pause Mode is only available for one of the first two experiences delivered by a fully charged Holder (Performance Mode).
• Eco Mode activated: your device has Pause Mode available only in Performance Mode (FlexBattery feature). Pause Mode is not available in Eco Mode. To enable Pause Mode feature, change your FlexBattery feature from Eco Mode to Performance Mode via IQOS App.
• Too late in the experience: Pause Mode is only available within the first 3 minutes or 8 puffs of the experience. If you try to active the Pause Mode outside this range, it will not be available.
• Right gesture: the right gesture to activate Pause Mode is to swipe across the entire Touch Screen. This was done to avoid unintentional activation of Pause Mode. [What is Pause Mode feature?]
• Battery degradation: Eligibility replacement check as per Fault Tree.
Do I need to upgrade the firmware of IQOS ILUMA to be compatible with IQOS ILUMA i PRIME?
There is no need to update IQOS ILUMA firmware to be compatible with IQOS ILUMA i PRIME devices.
IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA i PRIME devices are compatible.
You can charge your IQOS ILUMA i PRIME Holder in IQOS ILUMA Pocket Charger and vice versa (applicable for IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME and their corresponding devices among IQOS ILUMA i devices).
How to reset IQOS ILUMA i PRIME?
Place the Holder in the Pocket Charger and press the Pocket Charger Button for 10 seconds.
All Status Lights will turn OFF, blink twice, and turn ON to confirm a RESET.
IQOS ILUMA i – How to change light intensity on the Touch Screen?
2 LED intensity levels of your Touch Screen are available: ‘High’ and ‘Low’.
To change the LED intensity, tap five times on the Touch Screen

IQOS ILUMA i – Pocket Charger lights explanation
Bottom Pocket Charger light blinks white 2x
• Issue: outside the operating temperature range
• Action: Bring the device to the optimal temperature range (0 – 40°C)
Holder light on Pocket Charger blinks red 3x (and Holder does not display “E”)
• Issue: Slow Holder charging / Communication issue between Holder and Pocket Charger / Firmware update failure or interruption
• Action: Clean the contacts on the Holder and Pocket Charger. Place the Holder back in the Pocket Charger. / Perform a reset / The firmware update may have failed or been interrupted, try updating your firmware again.
• If Holder displays "E" on the screen, refer to Holder diagnostic in Fault Tree.
Bottom light on Pocket Charger blinks red 3x
• Issue: Malfunction / Firmware update failure or interruption / Slow charging
• Action: Unplug the Pocket Charger and ensure that the charging ports on both the Pocket Charger and the charging cable are clean and free from dirt. / Perform a reset. If in the process of updating firmware, try updating the firmware again.
Bottom light on Pocket Charger blinks yellow 3x (or orange)
• Issue: Low battery Yellow / Orange light
• Action: Ensure that the Pocket Charger is charged with the compatible charging cable and AC Power Adaptor (until 1 light turns solid white). 15min of charge should be sufficient for the yellow light to turn white.
Lights appear on Pocket Charger on short button press but no charging happens.
• Issue: dirty charging USB-C ports / Incompatible charging cable or AC Power Adaptor
• Action: Unplug the Pocket Charger and ensure that the charging ports on both the Pocket Charger and the charging cable are clean and free of dirt. / Charge the Pocket Charger with the compatible charging cable and AC Power Adaptor.
A full charge takes approximately 135min. The 4 lights will turn solid white and then turn off when fully charged / Perform a reset.
No lights on Pocket Charger (short button press) / Pocket Charger not charging
• Issue: Pocket Charger is discharged / is off / damaged
• Action: Press the Pocket Charger button for 4s to turn it on. Yellow/Orange light mean low battery, white lights indicate the charge level.
• Charge the Pocket Charger with the compatible charging cable and AC Power Adaptor. If necessary, perform a reset. For optimal charging, clean the contacts on the Holder and the Pocket Charger.
IQOS ILUMA i - What is FlexBattery feature?
FlexBattery is an advanced feature of IQOS ILUMA i PRIME devices that enables to use your Holder battery either in Performance Mode or in Eco Mode.
Your device is set up in Performance Mode by default, but you can change it to Eco Mode through IQOS App.
Performance Mode (default):
• 2 consecutive uses up to 6min each with 1 pause for one of them.
or
• Up to 3 consecutive uses up to 6min each without pause.
• Note: the screen will not show 3rd available experience. After 2nd experience, the screen will show one more available experience (one dash). When no more experiences are available, the screen will indicate the number “0”.
Eco Mode (to be activated in IQOS App):
• Increases the lifespan of the Holder battery by up to one year (only when fully used on Eco Mode throughout the lifespan of the Holder and may vary depending on personal consumption).
• Your Holder will be set for a single use only, lasting up to 6 minutes.
• Pause Mode is not available in this mode.
• This battery mode shall be set through the IQOS app.
IQOS ILUMA i - What is FlexPuff feature?
FlexPuff is an advanced feature of IQOS ILUMA i PRIME that enables a more flexible experience than before.
Depending on the way you puff, FlexPuff adapts to you and may provide 4 extra puffs (on top of 14 puffs)
FlexPuff activation and number of puffs depend on individual usage patterns. Thus, extra puffs might not apply to every experience.
No action is required from you since the system analyses your experience automatically.
Note that if you use the Pause, Flexpuff will not work for this experience.
You can activate/deactivate this feature through IQOS App
How it works:
• Towards the end of the experience, your device will analyze if the stick is fully consumed or not.
• If the stick is not fully consumed, 4 extra puffs will be automatically added to your experience, and the Touch Screen will indicate it.
• Light ring will extend in counterclockwise direction to 9 o’clock position.
• Additional puffs nearly completed.
IQOS ILUMA i – How should I puff to get additional puffs with FlexPuff?
FlexPuff activation and number of puffs depend on individual usage patterns and are managed automatically by the system.
Kindly note that extra puffs might not apply to every experience.
Therefore, we advise not to focus on your puffs but let the system function automatically.
IQOS ILUMA i – Short experience. Not enough puffs.
There may be several reasons for this issue:
1. Incorrect stick:
a. The device is designed to only work with SMARTCORE STICK®. If you use any other product, the experience duration may be impacted or may not start.
2. Incorrect insertion of the stick & usage:
a. Ensure you insert your SMARTOCRE STICK® the right way.
b. Insert the SMARTCORE STICK® to the line on the filter with coloured part facing outside.
c. Ensure you allow the pre-heating of the stick and you do not pull it out or move during the experience.
3. Device is outside the optimal temperature range:
a. If the Holder is used outside the optimal temperature range (0°C - 40°C), the device may need to use more energy. This may discharge the battery more rapidly.
b. Bring the device to the optimal temperature range.
4. Pause Mode activated by error:
a. If you accidentally swiped down across the entire Touch Screen, you activated the Pause Mode. The experience will temporarily stop. If the experience is not resumed within 8 mins, the experience will end.
IQOS ILUMA i – Low aerosol
Incorrect stick:
• The device is designed to only work with SMARTCORE STICK. If you use any other product, the experience duration may be impacted or may not start.
You start the experience straight after Pause Mode is resumed:
• After you resume the Pause, the device will need approximately 20 sec to pre-heat again before you can continue the experience.
• Ensure you allow the pre-heating of the stick and you do not pull it out or move during the experience.
Broken stick in the device:
• Check the heating chamber for broken sticks or debris. Avoid inserting sharp objects in the heating chamber as this may cause damage. Instead, you can use ILUMA Stick Remover if available.
Intensive puffing:
• If you puff too frequently without pause between the puffs, aerosol may not have enough time to form.
• We advise to leave a bit of time between the puffs. This will allow the device to properly heat the stick and generate aerosol.
FLEXPUFF does not work
• Incorrect stick: The device is designed to only work with SMARTCORE STICK®. If you use any other product, the experience duration may be impacted or may not start.
• Incorrect stick insertion: ensure you insert your SMARTOCRE STICK® the right way. Insert the SMARTCORE STICK to the line on the filter with the coloured part facing outside.
• Dirt or objects in the heating chamber: check the heating chamber for broken sticks or other debris or objects. Do not insert any sharp objects in the heating chamber to avoid damaging your device.
• Activated Pause: ensure Pause is not activated during the experience (swipe down across the screen) as this would prevent FlexPuff from being activated.
• Flex Puff deactivated in IQOS App: activate FlexPuff feature via IQOS App
• If you take large puffs, FlexPuff is unlikely to be activated as a lot of aerosol is used during the experience.
If extra puffs are granted, it is indicated on the screen by the light going around the ring. The ring will then extend counter clockwise towards the end of the experience
IQOS ILUMA i - What is Pause Mode feature?
Pause Mode is an advanced feature of IQOS ILUMA i PRIME devices that enables to pause your experience for up to 8 minutes, and resume it.
If you do not re-activate your experience within 8 mins, the Holder will automatically switch off and the experience will end.
Use Touch Screen to see if Pause Mode is available:
o In Performance Mode, during the first 3 minutes or 8 puffs of the experience.
o for one of the two consecutive uses in Performance Mode (default setting).
How to use Pause Mode:
1. Swipe down across the entire Touch Screen to pause. A vibration will indicate when the pause starts.
2. During the pause, the LEDs on the Touch Screen will fade out one by one (counterclockwise) from 12pm position as the pause duration count down.
3. If experience is not resumed within 8 min, Holder will turn off. 1 vibration will indicate when pause is close to the end.
4. Swipe up across entire Touch Screen to resume the experience. Note that when Pause Mode is activated the experience is limited to 14 puffs (including all puffs before and after the pause).
5. After the experience is resumed, the preheating will take on average 20 sec – Touch Screen will be showing light completing its round.
6. Vibration and light guide will indicate that the Holder is ready for use.
PAUSE MODE does not work
• Incorrect manipulation: Open the IQOS App and ensure Performance Mode and Pause are turned ON. Activated Pause Mode is illustrated by 2 short vertical lines at the top of the screen and is activated by swiping down across the entire Touch Screen on the device Holder.
• Pause is already used: Pause Mode is only available for one of the first two experiences delivered by a fully charged Holder (Performance Mode).
• Eco Mode activated: your device has Pause Mode available only in Performance Mode (FlexBattery feature). Pause Mode is not available in Eco Mode. To enable Pause Mode feature, change your FlexBattery feature from Eco Mode to Performance Mode via IQOS App.
• Too late in the experience: Pause Mode is only available within the first 3 minutes or 8 puffs of the experience. If you try to active the Pause Mode outside this range, it will not be available.
• Right gesture: the right gesture to activate Pause Mode is to swipe across the entire Touch Screen. This was done to avoid unintentional activation of Pause Mode. [What is Pause Mode feature?]
• Battery degradation: Eligibility replacement check as per Fault Tree.
Do I need to upgrade the firmware of IQOS ILUMA to be compatible with IQOS ILUMA i PRIME?
There is no need to update IQOS ILUMA firmware to be compatible with IQOS ILUMA i PRIME devices.
IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA i PRIME devices are compatible.
You can charge your IQOS ILUMA i PRIME Holder in IQOS ILUMA Pocket Charger and vice versa (applicable for IQOS ILUMA and IQOS ILUMA PRIME and their corresponding devices among IQOS ILUMA i devices).
How to reset IQOS ILUMA i PRIME?
Place the Holder in the Pocket Charger and press the Pocket Charger Button for 10 seconds.
All Status Lights will turn OFF, blink twice, and turn ON to confirm a RESET.
IQOS ILUMA i – How to change light intensity on the Touch Screen?
2 LED intensity levels of your Touch Screen are available: ‘High’ and ‘Low’.
To change the LED intensity, tap five times on the Touch Screen
Your LED intensity level changes in between 100% (High) & 30% (Low).
